Frustrated, offended and sad, with a heart that is heavy, I struggle to find the words that describe the feelings deep inside that are bubbling up to the surface!
It disturbed me to think that this person represented a whole group of people that believe they have the right to decide who can marry and what marriage means. There is No equality, No liberty and justice for ALL! It is reserved and maintained by the bullies of our society. Those that believe they have the right to define who should be happy, who should be free, who should have liberty and who should be treated as an equal. They have defined the words that they use to judge others.
Some of you would say, "It is just a sign!" Some of you would say, "She is ignorant, don't pay her any attention!" Some of you would say, "Don't let it bother you."
Those response dismiss my feelings. I would say to you, imagine how you wold feel if you were in my place. Imagine how you would feel if your child had to have this experience. Imagine how you would feel if it was your brother, sister, cousin, uncle, aunt, friend.
Imagine a world where the roles were reversed and you had to fight for your right to love and marry your opposite sex spouse! Imagine a world where you were constantly told that you made a choice to be heterosexual. Imagine a world that believed you were an abomination. An abomination made by a perfect God that doesn't make mistakes. Imagine being called a, "mistake"
Writing this with sadness in my heart, my little dog pawed at my arm so that I would allow him to sit in my lap. As I welcomed him up onto my legs, I thought to myself, "this little life, my dog loves me unconditionally, no judgment, no hate, just love!" I think to myself, what would this world look like if we could love ourselves and each other the way our dogs/pets love us?
Today my prayer is for all my brothers and sisters in the LGBTQ community that experience the painful sting of judgement by those that they have never raised a hand or uttered a word to harm. Today my prayer is for my brothers and sisters that have hearts filled with fear, judgement and hate for themselves and for others that have never raised a hand or uttered a word to harm them. Today my prayer is for peace and love for EVERYONE... Homosexual, Heterosexual, Bisexual, Transexual and Transgendered and EVERYONE else whom God has created. Today my prayer is in Thanksgiving to God for the diversity which I celebrate and offer gratitude.
